It’s said that when Akbar conquered Malwa, he faced strong resistance from the Rajput kings. So, he dealt with it diplomatically. He allowed the Rajput rulers to keep their kingdoms. In exchange, he married Jodha Bai, a princess of the Rajput clan.
Jodha Bai was the sister of Man Singh, a powerful ruler of Jaipur. And she became Akbar’s most beloved queen.
She was known for her grace, intelligence and strong influence on Emperor Akbar. And Jodha Bai’s Palace was where she lived. It was designed to provide private space to women living there. The palace even had a Hindu temple for Jodha Bai to pray.
Jodha Bai Palace seamlessly integrates elements of Rajput and Mughal-style architecture. Wandering through the palace, you can feel the grandeur of the queen’s daily life.
